Did anybody else get the following email or anything like it? I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what the point of this is.....any insights?
Is this a new style of paranoia or fear-mongering? Does anybody know the origin of this rumour?

Ramp Management have contacted Leads, and Station Attendants, in Toronto and advised them. When I have more information, I'll let you know.

What does it mean to the In-flight department?

Sounds like a bad joke in very poor taste. Have you tried to forward the message? Sometimes, when you forward, you can see the originating address unless the sender intentionally blocked it. Please keep us informed of any developments you learn about.

Well, apparently this rumour has a life of its own.
I checked with a 'rampie' friend of mine and he confirmed that this is going around the coffee room (verbally) in his dept.....

before AC file for bancruptcy it would spinoff tech services, aeroplan and would sell other things. I agree this company is not going well and if I was the union I would renogotiate the bonus clause as fast a possible to try to get it in one chunk.

While I doubt the rumour is true, the daily did just come out with the disappointing news. Loads went down to about 70% in December from 72.x last Dec. AC is now expecting a full year loss.

Good evening all --

Here I sit in the IC COmm Ctr in YYZ, and just spoke to the operations manager on duty --don't want to name her, because we are supposed to keep things anonymous. I asked her outright about the rumour. "Yeah, we heard it too here today."

Me - Any truth?

Her - Where there's smoke there's fire. All special assignments are cancelled - including Savoir Faire for Feb, and we're offering LOAs like crazy cause of the no layoff clause.

Me - What else?

Her - Cuts. Big cuts.

So, there it is. Such as it is. Keep your ears to the ground all -- TTFN
