Question: If you are part of a flight crew (FA, FO, FE, CA), and you are expecting - how far into your pregnancy should you fly? What are FAA regs regarding this matter? :confus_2:
Nobody pass out - I'm not pregnant! However, I am entering the early stages of family planning and would like to get more ideas on how my career choices are going to fit in. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Jess,
The dr's usually don't let you fly past 24 weeks.

here in austria, you are off the air as soon as you tell them that you are pg. law prohibits pg women to work in a means of transportation (also buses etc.)

You mean you’re taken ?
Off the market ?
Not available ?
Forbidden fruit ?
Dream material only ?
Shacking up ?
Someone’s main squeeze ?
Good for you ! :wink_2:

I sincerely and humbly appologize to the Jess for seeming needy.
I refuse, however, to request excusement for the slobbering.
That part I enjoyed honestly. (and so did you, admit it).

Jessica,
clock ticking, I understand...At AC you pretty much can fly as far as you want, up to 32 weeks. I've flown with girls that were 7 months pregnant!. They all had healthy babies...but I always wonder about the changes of pressure, wacky scheds, time zones...it can take the best of you!. It depends on how you feel (usually like caca for first 3 months)but you also have to think of the risks involved.i.e.depressura., incidents... So I guess good luck with the donation!

You can fly to 32 weeks at United as well. You do not have to of course, you can use sick leave for the entire pregnancy. Most people had trouble in the first trimester with morning sickness rather than further in. Flying with the belly gets you out of a lot of work temporarily :wink_2: You get the cushy break spots, and can wiggle out of doing galley for once! There is a support thingy they sell that looks like a tube top you wear on the lower part of your belly that helps alot with support.

At MyTravel you are grounded as soon as you know your expecting. Then given office duties (usually only work 2-3 days a week!) until merternity leave starts. They average out salary by looking at last couple of months wage slips. I would not want to fly of I was expecting.

I flew until my 8 1/2 month pregnancy with both my kids. I tried getting my doctor to approve a sick leave but he wouldn't agree to one because he said I was healthy and my pregnancies were going great. Both my kids (now 10 and 12) are in excellent health. I guess it all depends on the individual. It's also quite funny to hear the comments from passengers when they see you working in maternity clothes. The worst were the elbows (from aisle sitting passengers) right in the stomach!
