The Board of Directors of Air India (AI) has decided to buy long and short range aircraft.
AI proposes to acquire 10 large (with 250 plus seats) and 18 small capacity (160 seats) aircraft. Financial bids for bigger aircraft have already been called for and the board has approved inviting price bids for smaller aircraft. AI has shortlisted Boeing 777-200 and Airbus 340-300. Short-range aircraft will be either Boeing 737-900 or Airbus 321.
