My all time favorite book is "The Golden Years of Aviation". It is the history of the first Frontier Airlines. (not affiliated with the Frontier as we know today.)
It was written by a gentleman who was a career pilot for the former Frontier and is a compilation of pilot stories. Some are so funny you'll pee your pants. Some are hair raising and heartbreaking.
I recently received a book for Christmas called "Remember the Magic". The Story of Horizon Air. This is also good reading as well.

Its probably not along the lines you were thinking, spatcher, but I just finished "The Company We Kept" by Jay Koren. He was a flight attendant with Pan Am from the 50s up till closing in 91, and has some great stories, and a lot of history. I also picked up "Remember the Magic" at an aviation memrobilia show a few months ago, but haven't read it yet. :ooo:

Mine is "Fate is the Hunter" by Ernest K. Gann! :plane:
'Spatcher lent me her fav - The Golden Years of Flying - which I'm about half way through, and can definitely give two thumbs up to that as well! Great choice my RJ Goddess!

I recently read Gann's "Gentelmen of Adventure". It is fictional, but the characters have run ins with some historic aviation pioneers, Lindberg, Hughs, and others. Good read.

*** Those friendly skies can be bumpy
Florida Today -- "Around the World in a
Bad Mood" is coming to The King Center
and I can't wait. As a former flight
attendant (no not a stewardess) I can
really relate. As I was reading the
press release, funny and scary
memories started pouring back to me.
My first flight was a fiasco. When
the crew found out it was my first
they had a field day with me. Not
only was I scared to death of making
a mistake, but they tried everything
possible to get me to mess up. As I
was standing at the front of the
plane presenting the safety
demonstration, people starting laughing.
(Has anyone read this book?)
