Does your employer offer "Domestic Partner Benefits"?
If so, what do they entail? (Please explain)

I think it is soooo cool that employers are begining to offer these benefits. It gives those who live "alternative lifestyles" and those who wish to remain unwed some great options!

Hi Dispatcher!
Yes, here at AA we have domestic partner benefits. They include medical, dental, travel, health care reimbursment, and benefactor designation. They are basically the same as straight married couples get, but they are taxed differently. Sadly the biggest difference, is the ability to fly on other airlines. My DP can only fly on AA and our Oneworld Partners. Hope this gives you some insight, but if you want to know more just let me know!

Ours are similar. However our flying benefits are probably better than the remainder of the benefits.

Ironically, I believe- it's the US Government that's the biggest barrier in the "Grand Prize" of being treated equally (That- and I do believe that we have an internal memo banning us from owning bean-bag ashtrays or Chia-pets). This is the same US government who assiduously guards the rights of other minorities- but through the use of income taxes makes ours impossible to achieve.Thought provoking...... :mad_2:...angry thoughts.

When I worked at QX in PDX, my boyfriend and I had been together quite some time - and the "domestic partner" benefits were great. But, with NW - they were terrible! Interestingly, at that time we lived in Vermont - and they recognize civil unions and domestic partnerships even for filing state taxes and such. Hopefully one of these days, other states will follow suit and eventually the Feds will get their heads out of their asses and make some changes. Unfortunately - I don't see it happening for another 30 years...unless more lazy people get off their duffs and start voting.

Anyone remember that SNL skit after Clinton was re-elected??? The election in which only 50% of the population actually voted??? You'll laugh your ass off - but then you'll think...how freaking sad!!!

Continental offers full benefits to domestic partners...the only thing that's different, if I recall correctly, is pass travel taxation.
