Would you be willing to give up your bonus in order to help the company financially, or at least defer it until there is a profit?
A yes or No answer only please.

No.

The bonus is a one-shot deal that will not help them much in the present, nor at all in the future. If we were to give it back, it would do absolutely nothing for the long-term survival of the company, so what would be the point besides making a personal sacrifice. $25.8 million is a drop in the bucket, especially when it's a one-time gain.

I would be willing to consider many things that will help this company survive. I would consider anything that increases productivity, lowers their cost-base, and gives them a better chance to survive long-term, wage-reductions, layoffs, and changes to our work rules included. But anything we do has to be done with the company making changes from the top down first. They have to change the way they do business and tighten their own belts first. Otherwise, what's the point? We'd just be prolonging the inevitable.

Was,
I asked Yes or No. Why do you always have to validate yourself? When you only have 500 million in the bank 25 mil is a big chunk. I implore you to look at the aviation industry and how it is changing. Why at OAC does it always have to be about what the other guy got? Take a long hard look at the other airlines and maybe, just maybe you'll see that 50K a year for 15 days a month is pretty good. For now anyway.....

Hi takeoff
Don’t take off yet. Before you start thinking about giving anything back lets find out what is really coming down. At this point it sounds like another cry of wolf. Mr. Milton used the same tactic on the federal government re 9/11. He has been known to stretch the truth before. I’m not saying that there isn’t a problem but, how bad is it. Will he open the books to the pilots? Lets not get carried away and give up more than what we have to. I take exception to trying to second-guess the company. We have seen a similar situation in the 80’s and we rallied and did what was necessary. I know we will pull together and help to save all our jobs and the company. Let the union do the negotiating, let’s not get carried away.

There are many things that can be done to save a lot of money before they start going after major cuts or concessions. All kinds of things like block sharing. Leave of absences, and packages. One thing they don’t want to do is lower the flight frequency. Watch a big push to take West Jet head on up to and including increasing flights, head to head competition.

We will survive.

Funny Takeoff, I thought it was at x-cail that it was always about what the other guy got... They got the bonus, they made gains in this contract... They have our seniority... whine, whine, whine! We want it too... Bla bla bla... Same old song over and over again!

Also why should'nt "Was" make is answer clear by adding to a yes or no answer... I thought this forum was about free exchange of ideas... Clarifying your point of view helps to avoid misunderstanding.

You know takeoff, with this post you are only putting salt on an open wound ... You know the answer already... We have discussed it in other threads. You know where OAC's stand on the issue and we know where x-cail stand on it as well. So give it up already...

Nevertheless, in response to this post,I will answer you with this question... What would x-cail be willing to give up...? (something that would be comparable to the 25 million that you are so intent on us not getting)

Takeoff, you conveniently forgot to address the fact that our giving back 25 mil will do nothing beyond giving AC two more days of money-losing activity. So what would be the point besides giving people like yourself a grin? Permanent solutions are what's needed, not one-time insignificant donations. So I reiterate that the answer is NO.

I'd love to see what you guys would be willing to give back that's worth 25 million, just in the name of solidarity, brotherhood, sisterhood, and all that other cult....oops, I mean union nonsense. How about dropping the incessant appeals and accepting what has happened and truly moving beyond all of this? What would that be worth? As they say in those Mastercard commercials, "priceless". Perhaps you should be so gracious as to make the first overture.

Your right Was. If 25 million will only help out the company for two more days then there is no point putting it on hold. If we are losing 12.5 million a day it won't take long before we are in bankrupcy protection and then our contract is null and void anyway and a judge will decide.

Wow. Hard to limit to one word after reading all the replies. On another thread I dropped some info about the figures going round for our group - IFS is supposed to ante up an original $108 million, now down to $75 (as of last week.)

Our $25mill bonus? Nope. It was written off last year (or 2001???) so the Company has already accounted for it in the books. I want it. NOW. Not in 3 equal instalments, though that was the negotiation.

Just my opinion, and of course, I'm a former ostrich.
