Isn't it funny how press releases state Corcorde services started in 1976. :mad_2:

Which is totally wrong! :smile_2:

BA Concorde services started operating in 1973 on the LON-SIN route via DBX. This route ceased ops in about 1980.
And also to HKG in 1973, -can't remember exactly when this service stopped I think about '76/77 to concentrate more acft on the US market.
AF Concorde service if I remember correctly also started in 1973 on the PAR-RIO or PAR-SAO route.

So it's NOT 27years but 30years they've been in service.

Concorde has flown only 27years to the USA, After many fights to get US Govt. approval, apparently (can't remember how true this is but) Americans were afraid of supersonic passenger travel and what it might do to them!?!

:smile_2:

Forgot to add, It's a sad day and it will be a shame to see them go.

I was fortunate enough last year to see several of them parked at JFK. What a magnificent lady.

She used to fly to DFW back in the early years of the airport. I wonder if she'll make a farewell visit here?

She even made it to MSY in the early '80's, carrying the French President at that time to a summit there.

Could you imagine having to be displaced from this aircraft into some slow poke airplane like the 747-400 or 777?

True they are both highly automated but after spending any length of time in a hot rod like the Concorde it would be really disappointing to have to fly some subsonic slow poke....

Farewell to a great flying machine!

My recollection is the US was concerned about sonic booms and high altitude air pollution and sonic booms. Plus we were down because the 2707(?) never flew.
