There are many airlines. Many ways of building blocks. Many different ways to be a cohesive unity. Be open. Lets talk. Don't point your finger at us.
That's what is being said.

Lets work together to make a better work environment. If we don't look after US no one will.

that's my 2 cents
Who are you to tell "seniors" that their work life is worth less than yours? Isn't that what you're proposing? To make seniors' working conditions equal to or less than yours by taking away pensions and the like?

How do you think all these other airlines would feel about changing their work rules and block building processes mid-stream? They may have other work rules, but do you really think they value them any more or any less than we value ours? Do you really think that ALL of their members are supportive of ALL of the contractual limitations or isn't it possible that only the most vocal are ever heard from, just like in any other union or political group? Isn't it possible that only the most disenfranchised amongst these other groups might also be banging their drums hoping for positive change? It's quite likely, don't you think?

You say we should work together, and I agree. Working together doesn't mean taking pension privileges from one group to pay for another group's advances. Working together doesn't mean taking from the juniors to make the seniors more "wealthy", nor does it mean the opposite.

Dart and I have spoken about the future and looking forward, not back. Unfortunately for our newer hires, they don't have the benefit of hindsight nor do they have the benefit of experience. To our new hires everything "sucks" and nothing looks like it will ever get better. So there's a panic involved in their decision making processes and political "leaders" will exploit that for their own gains. Lesley Swann tried her best in the last election but thankfully most of us saw through her empty promises.

For those of us who have had the benefit of time and experience, we see where you're coming from and we have the experience to look back upon whereby we came and can truthfully say without question that things will one day improve.

Remember the Karate Kid movie where the Sensei said over and over again "Patience Grasshopper"? I don't mean to say that in a negative or condescending way. It's simply meant as a reminder that everything comes in it's time. We all wanted it immediately, but generations past didn't really expect it to be granted immediately. A lot of folks today expect just that, and that's what grates against every other generation that expected to work for it a little more. Patience is a virtue, but that doesn't mean "Take it on the chin because I did".

Let's all look for improvements. We're all union members. Seniors should expect improvements just as juniors should. Doesn't mean one should come at the expense of the other. As a "relatively senior" member, I'd be happy with "status quo" with small raises and/or VSP's along with better pay for our junior members and better reserve rules. I think that that would pass any vote.

You only wrote five words, but I keep reading all five of them over and over again and still don't get it.

HAHA

P.D'A seems very angry. Read the posts made by him/her on Stratosphere under the 100 Hours/Reserve thread. The post mentions hatred towards our poor airmattress.

Too funny!

Actually, ac_dc, the real surprise for me is that you've only written eight words in your last two posts as opposed to the long-winded sermons you usually deliver. And a nice surprise that is indeed, I suppose.

But then again, on a thread entitled 'New way of awarding flights' it might be hard for you to pine publically for the days when working positions were ALWAYS chosen by seniority (even if the most senior was late for the briefing...in which case everyone simply waited for him/her to show up) and even crew meals were occasionally chosen by seniority, especially on Japan flights...you know, the ones on which while a few hundred f/a's were laid off, non-unionised Japanese language interpreters were allowed to work by special permission given to the Company by a certain union component representing flight attendants at the time.

So, although I don't understand you use of the `H` word, I do understand your brevity.

But I won't use the `H` word as you used it. Instead I`ll the `H` word as in happy, as in Happy Easter.

And ac_dc, that's for real, not for April Fools.
