Guys......not wanting to cause alarm, but please please watch yourselves when out downroute. I don't want to preach to the converted, but this seems to be an alarming trend.
An f/a who works for the same airline as me was recently in HKG and seemed to be BLASTED after 2 or so drinks. Turned out that ROHYPNOL (soory if I spell it wrongly) had been slipped into her drink. LOOK after each other..these "roofies" can be bought for as little as US$5.00 and react very nastily with alcohol. As I say, not wanting to cause alarm.......just a reminder to look after your crew and play sensibly...... Lotsa love |

You're absolutely correct, it can't be emphasized enough. Especially after the recent incident in Boise. (Boise, of all places.)
Watch out for yourselves, watch out for you flying partners! |

We had a similar situation with a number of our female f/a's a few years ago.
A male f/a (very sweet and unassuming) was offering hot chocolate to various colleagues in crew hotels over quite a long period. Finally one f/a reported what had happened amd then quite a few more came out of the woodwork. The male f/a attendant is now cooling his heals in a Brisbane jail. More recently two pilots were drugged in the lobby bar of our crew hotel in BKK. One of them remembered being propped up somewhere signing credit card vouchers (imagine how strong the drugs were to get a pilot to do that!). They both 'lost' 36 hours, the period of time the drugs affected them and they were out cold. I guess the moral is you have to be careful EVERYWHERE! |

I apologise for the lengh of this posting, but it is worth reading!!! When I reported for duty today with B.A. I was met by a member of our medical department who was handing out leaflets about this very problem. She stated that there had been rapes in B.A, both female and male. It stated: WHAT TO DO IF YOU THINK YOUR DRINK HAS BEEN SPIKED! Do not be alone, do not hesitate to find some people you trust and explain. Seek medical attention immediately: Your company doctor or your local hospital. Inform: Your Cabin Crew Ops Manager. Inform: The Police Preserve evidence _ start remembering details leading up to this event and make notes. Seek advice and counselling with confidential support. Then it goes on to say. PROTECT YOURSELF! Know your own drink tolerance level. Think before you accept a drink from anyone! Never leave your drink unattended-make someone you trust a drink watcher or take your drink with you or finish it. At parties take your own alchholic and non-alcholic drinks. Do not take your drinks from a punch bowl. Do not drink anything you are unsure of by smell, colour or taste! Let your friends know your whereabouts. Who you are going with and where you are going. Watch your friends for signs of over intoxication. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF AT RISK! Regards Exeng |

In Australia the company that makes this drug is looking at putting a chemical in it that changes the colour of the drink.. so if you start to sip a scotch and it is blue you know it has been spiked. Becareful.. I dont let the drinks out of my site and I always decline if someone wants to by a drink.
Keep safe... |
